NWSG’s history effectively began in 1980 during the first phase of development of the North West Shelf Venture’s facilities, which culminated in the first deliveries of domestic gas to Western Australia in 1984.

The North West Shelf Venture has achieved an enviable position since the discovery of the vast North West Shelf gas and condensate reserves in the 1970s. Today, the North West Shelf Venture is Australia’s largest oil and gas resource development and continues to be a significant growth business.
